Does it hurt?

No pain should be felt. In general, people will experience a free flow of energy, a subtle tingling feeling, or an electrical sensation around the needle travelling up and down the arm. It is common for patients to be so relaxed with treatment that they fall asleep.

What can I expect after the treatment?

After treatment, you will usually feel a sense of general well-being and relaxation. Although individual responses vary, most people experience an improvement in sleep, digestion and energy levels. Some people experience a mild exacerbation of symptoms after the first treatment but this does subside and will be followed by an improvement in the condition over subsequent treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will depend on how severe and long-standing the condition is. Each patient responds differently to therapy. A course of treatments will generally provide long term relief for most chronic ailments. Some acute problems may only require a single treatment. You will be given some idea of how your body should respond in your initial consultation. You will certainly experience an improvement from your first few treatments. Depending on the severity, duration of condition and health history of each patient, we usually recommend weekly sessions over 4-6 weeks.

Can I have Acupuncture during Pregnancy?

It is important that you tell your Acupuncturist if you may be pregnant.

What should I wear to the treatment?

Ideally loose, comfortable clothing – nothing that is too tight.

Is Acupuncture the same as Dry needling?

No! Definitley not the same but there are certainly some similarities as they use the same type of needles but there are a differences. Dry needling targets ‘trigger points and can be used to assist in releasing tight muscles. Acupuncture treats a much wider range of conditions. There is certainly a big difference when comparing the two. A qualified registered Acupuncturist will have completed 4 years of study. A dry needling practitioner can become qualified after a weekend worskshop.

There is a free 2hr parking near the BWS and Night owl, we are located above them next to the dentist upstairs.

What happens if I miss my appointment, arrived late or cancel my appointment?

No Show: When a client doesn’t confirm or doesn’t show up for their appointment that means an another client has been denied of that spot – especially if it’s after hours as these are usually popular appointment times.

We require 24 hours notice for cancellation otherwise 100% of the standard fee will be charged. No show on the day will be 100% of the consultation fee.You will receive a confirmation reminder text 24 hours before your appointment.

If you arrive late your Acupuncture session will still finish at the scheduled time and you will be charged the standard fee.

Will my Health Fund cover the treatment?

Yes we have HICAPS. Most health funds are covered for Acupuncture so you can claim your payment electronically. Most fund ‘extras’ will cover a portion of your Acupuncture fee.

How can I claim Acupuncture on Work Cover?

At your first Acupuncture appointment, bring your WorkCover referral letter from your GP. Payment in full is required at the time of consultation and treatment. You will be issued with a receipt to claim this appointment through WorkCover. Subsequent consultations need to be approved with WorkCover before commencement.
